The MossBack Difference

Environmentally Safe

At MossBack, we are transparent about the safety and sustainability of our habitat. Our commitment is to create products that are not only durable and effective but also environmentally friendly. We’re always striving to enhance our manufacturing process, packaging, and the use of recycled Rigid PVC when feasible. Our habitats are carefully crafted using a combination of Rigid PVC for the limbs and trunks, and HDPE for the bases and shade tops, ensuring long-lasting quality while prioritizing the health of our ecosystems.

Avoid Microplastics certificationTo prevent the unnecessary transport of waste plastic, we take great care to meticulously clean all Rigid PVC remnants from our products before packaging. These remnants are returned to our PVC supplier for recycling, effectively minimizing waste. Additionally, our products are designed to be long-lasting and will not mechanically break down in water, further supporting our commitment to sustainability.

No Plasticizers certificationNot all PVC or HDPE is the same. For example, it’s important to understand the key difference between Rigid PVC and Soft PVC. A major distinction lies in the use of phthalates (plasticizers) found in flexible plastics. Since the founding of MossBack Fish Habitat, we worked to improve the manufacturing materials used in our products until we reached 100% Rigid PVC in both our limbs and trunks. Because MossBack Fish Habitat uses Rigid PVC, there’s no need for phthalates, which are unnecessary for rigid products. Research shows that Rigid PVC does not leach lead, BPA, cadmium, or other plasticizers, as these are neither part of its manufacturing process nor its formulation. The industry states that Rigid PVC does not produce phthalates. Because of this, there is no evidence linking phthalates to properly manufactured Rigid PVC habitat in aquatic environments.

Our trunks and limbs are crafted from the same Rigid PVC material commonly used in drinking water pipes, promoting safety and durability. Additionally, our products contain no biocides and support the quick growth of periphyton on all surfaces. The HDPE used in our Bases and Shade Tops is non-fluorinated, free from phthalates, heavy metals, BPA, or PFAs.

MossBack Fish Habitat products satisfy all PROP 65 requirements. After our annual review, we can confidently state that our products do not require the PROP 65 warning.

Contains Recycled Material certificationAt MossBack Fish Habitat, we are committed to sustainability. Not only do we use recycled Rigid PVC in our trunks, but we also recycle all Rigid PVC remnants by sending them back to our suppliers for further recycling. You can trust MossBack to remain conscious of our manufacturing practices, ensuring that we contribute to maintaining healthy and sustainable
natural habitats.

Sourced Local certificationAs a small family-owned business, we like to support other local businesses, but most importantly for our customers, this allows us to have continual quality control of our products. We design the manufacturing of our products from the ground up, so we know our sources and have quality control over WHAT our product is made of as well as HOW it is made to promote safety and consistency.

Superior Design

MossBack Fish Habitat offers the ONLY limb on the market custom designed for a purpose: to prevent angler snagging, to hold more sediment, and grow more periphyton. The SHAPE, TEXTURE and SIZE of MossBack’s limbs provide the greatest amount of density for periphyton to grow over time and become “living shade” for your fish! No other limb compares to MossBack!
